Basically, good posture is having your body in proper alignment as it relates to gravity. You should be able to form an imaginary line through your ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, and ears.

You can check on your posture with a quick, easy test called the wall test. All you need to do is:

  1. Stand with your back and the back of your head pressed against a wall.
  2. Move your feet forward so that your heels are 6 inches from the wall.
  3. Put one hand between your lower back and the wall.
  4. Note how much space there is.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the space between your neck and the wall.

If the spaces between your body and the wall are only about 2 inches, you’re posture is pretty good! If the space is greater, proper core exercises can help.
